Ayer viernes 8 de mayo se llevó a a cabo el Tercer Congreso de Blogfesores en el Recinto Universitario de Mayaguez de la Universidad de Puerto Rico. Esta actividad organizada por Dra. Cristina Pomales y un grupo de la biblioteca, reúne educadores, estudiantes e interesados en la web 2.0, epecialmente los blogs. Este año el tema principal era los programas de código abierto y su aplicación en la enseñanza y contamos con la participación, entre otros, del distinguido educador James Groom, autor del blog bavatuesdays, quien realizó una excelente ponencia sobre el impacto de la web 2.0 y luego ofreció un taller acerca de cómo integrar los blogs y Twitter a nuestros cursos. La actividad estuvo muy concurrida y amena, y siempre es una grata experiencia compartir con colegas que están inmersos en la tecnología. Felicidades a la Dra. Pomales por el éxito de la actividad y espero por la celebración del cuarto congreso el próximo año.

Me alegra que hayas disfrutado el Congreso. Quiero aclarar que este año no estuve organizando el Congreso. Este año la Dra. Cristina Pomales y un grupo de la Biblioteca (Jaqui, Griselle, entre otros) fueron los responsables de que se convirtiera en realidad. Gracias por el apoyo que siempre nos brindas.

Wow puertorrican men still amaze me in the 21st century with such derrogatory comments on women “damas” and what they “can do”. Don’t have to search for this stuff in other countries around the world. It’s right here too. Wonder if this amazes other Blogfesores 2009 male participants, too?! Maybe we can get a survey going?
Excuse me, but I don’t consider “damas” a derrogatory adjective, neither saying what “they can do”. I can call them “women”, but its a matter of personal preference of what words I use and linguistic appreciation by others. I DO respect women, I DO admire their work and I was happy to know the Congress was organized by women and I’m not “amazed” or “surprised” that they did such a good work.
[...] Prisma Digital (Radamés Toro) was also a twittering and blogging force that I am still beholding, and it was folks like this that represented the lion share of the conference attendees. I was particularly impressed with the forum at the end of the day, which basically opened up discussion around the theme of the conference (which was open access) to all the participants for an impromptu conversation and discussion. I was really impressed by the way the community was not simply cheerleading the charge, but asking the very particular questions and outlining the specifics challenges for a campus like Mayaguez that is predominantly a science, and even more specifically an engineering, school.
