Twitter ha tenido que cortar los API’s a la mitad para resistir el embate de la gran cantidad de mensajes provocados sobretodo por el Mundial de Soccer. Los usuarios de la red de microblogging habrán notado que el máximo de API’s bajó en un momento dado a 75. La drástica medida parece tener el propósito de evitar que el servicio colapse. Dice el FAQ de Twitter:
“Reducing the API rate-limit is not the first or only method we use and is one we try to avoid if possible. However, it is also one of the more effective ways to reduce load and ensure that the Twitter service remains available to the greatest number of users”
